When purchasing a camera, many consumers want the features of a DSLR but don’t want the bulk that comes with owning one. This is the hole that Canon are trying to fill as they introduce their pocket DSLR called the Canon EOS 100D.

The Canon EOS 100D weighs a mere 407 grams and looks like a pocket sized SLR and is over 10 percent slimmer than the Canon 650D released last year.

Although significantly smaller, the camera does not seem to have much less features than a regular SLR with Canon being able to keep a lot of bells and whistles that larger SLRs have.

The Canon 100D has a 18 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor which is the same one that is one the Canon 700D. The camera gives you ability to shoot with many preset filters which gives it functions similar to the point and shoot camera.

For a great selection of cameras, visit DWI cameras. They have a wide range of cameras and accessories at great prices and with a DWI coupon you can get your purchase even cheaper.

In a big blow to Samsung and Google, a judge has banned the sale of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus in the US pending the outcome of a patent dispute with Apple.

The reasoning behind the judge on this decision is that she, Judge Lucy Koh, believed that Apple had a good chance of proving that Samsung infringed on the patents.

The ban of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus comes on the back of her also banning the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 last week.

To enforce this injunction, Apple will have to post a $100 million dollar bond which is a drop in the ocean for the world’s most valuable company. If Samsung win’s the case then this bond will go toward payments of damages.

In Australia, we are still able to purchase Samsung Galaxy Nexus plans however with Apple so keen to block Samsung, we may not have much longer to purchase their products before Australia goes the same way as the US.

The Apple iPhone has long held the top spot for smartphone sales in the UK. There have however been a number of Android devices snapping at the heals of the iPhone’s dominance. Previously the Samsung Galaxy S2 was the device challenging the iPhone 4S however the age of the device meant that it never posed a serious threat.

It’s big brother however, is a completely different kettle of fish. The Samsung Galaxy S3 was released recently and is destined to become Samsung‘s best selling phone. With this title also comes the fact that it will be a serious contender to the Apple iPhone’s dominance. The main reason being that this device features hardware that is more advanced than the iPhone 4S and also comes off the back of the hugely successful Galaxy S2.

In Australia, Samsung Galaxy S3 Plans and iPhone 4S plans are on par in terms of pricing so it will be interesting who ends up winning the battle.

The iPhone 4S was released last week with iPhone 4S plans starting at $199 with each of the carriers. During the presentation, something was revealed which seemed a bit unusual. The iPhone 4S standby time has dropped 100 hours.

The technical details of the phone indicates that the iPhone 4S standby time is 200 hours which is still a very long time. However, the iPhone 4 was touted as having a standby time of 250 hours and going back even further to the original iPhone, that had a standby time of 300 hours.

In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S II has a standby time as 710 hours on 2G reception and 610 hours standby on 3G reception. It is difficult to compare the two in a real world environment however as both likely do their tests differently.

The most likely reason fro the drop in the standby power usage is the introduction of the dual core A5 CPU. It looks like they may have traded off some speed for battery life.

Nokia has had a rough road over the last few years with Android and Apple devices taking over the highly lucrative smart phone market while they sit on the sidelines and watch their market share dwindle down from astronomical highs.

Their downfall has come due to the fact that they have not been able to capture the requirements of users and smart phones and instead giving users something that is neither functional or easy to use.

Nokia has long been stuck with a platform called Symbian OS which has always been used to run their smart phone devices. The operating system was never designed for touch screen devices, and when they tried to adapt it to these devices, it really did not work.

To combat their weakness in this area, Nokia have teamed up with Microsoft to produce Windows Phone 7 powered devices. The first device in this series is the Nokia Lumia 800.
